Selfishness...part 2

How do you stop being selfish once you've already figured out that you are selfish about something. You find yourself at a job you realize you only took because you were selfish, you like a girl who you shouldn't be liking, you're at a school for selfish reasons, or you simply want something and simply don't want to give it up.

This was the second question I was going to pose to the group I hung out with tonight, but never got the chance.

The first half of our discussion was trying to figure out if your desires were selfish. Is saying the phrase "I want..." always a bad thing? Our society would tell us no, but then again lining up my ideals with God's is more important than 'I wants...' Anyway, that was the previous conversation, here is the new one. Once you realize that you are being selfish about something, how to you stop being selfish about it? I'm interested in your thoughts...especially those tagged because you were there for part 1 of the selfishness discussion.
